Size Guide for Ponchos

Finding Your Perfect Fit

Our ponchos come in a “One Size Fits Most” cut that’s intentionally forgiving, gliding over a wide range of shapes and layers.  Simply verify the Width (W) and Height (H) numbers on the product page to be sure the drape matches your frame.  Pieces marked “Extra Large” belong to our larger range; they feel luxuriously roomy and easily suit anyone who normally wears sizes S–M (and, of course, L–XL), offering extra coverage without bulk.

When you picture the fit, think of the poncho as a flat rectangle:

  • Top edge = shoulder line

  • Bottom edge = hem

  • Slip it over your head so it hangs down the front and back.

A well-chosen poncho will

  1. rest smoothly across your shoulders and torso,

  2. let the side panels fall freely along your arms, and

  3. reach the length you like—long enough for warmth, yet short enough for easy movement.

ECUALAMA Size Guide

1 | Flat-lay measurements (appear in every listing)

Where we measure

What it tells you

Typical adult range*

W = Width

Wrist-edge to wrist-edge with the poncho lying flat.

Fabric span across out-stretched arms.

43 – 59 in (110 – 150 cm)

H = Height

Neck base straight down to bottom fringe.

Front/back drop when arms are lifted.

33 – 41 in (85 – 105 cm)

*Hand-woven pieces may vary ±¾ in (±2 cm).

2 | What happens when you lower your arms

  • W2 (shoulder width)W ÷ 2

A 45 in (115 cm) flat width settles on shoulders about 22.5 in (57 cm) apart.

  • H2 (side-corner drop)( W – W2 ) ÷ 2

With that same 45 × 36 in poncho:

    • W2 ≈ 22.5 in

    • H2 ≈ (45 – 22.5) ÷ 2 ≈ 11 in (28 cm) below the front hem—mid-thigh on a 5 ft 9 in wearer.

Just subtract the width resting on your shoulders and split what’s left between the two side “triangles.”

3 | Adult size options

Label

Flat size (W × H)

Best for

One Size / Regular

43 – 49 × 35 – 39 in (110 – 125 × 90 – 98 cm)

Heights 5 ft 1 in – 6 ft 1 in; classic mid-thigh drape.

Extra-Large

53 – 59 × 37 – 41 in (135 – 150 × 95 – 105 cm)

Broader shoulders, taller frames, or anyone craving a dramatic flow (side points near the knee).

Cape / Short

45 – 47 × 31 – 33 in (115 – 120 × 80 – 85 cm)

High-hip length, maximum mobility—great over bulky coats.

4 | Measure yourself in two easy steps

  1. Arm-span (for W) – stretch arms out; measure wrist to wrist.

  2. Front drop (for H) – measure from the base of neck to your desired hem point.

Select a poncho with W ≥ your arm-span and an H that meets your length preference.  Side-corner drop (H2) will be roughly half of the extra width.

5 | Extra fit & care tips

  • Layering room – our 80 % alpaca / 20 % acrylic blends and 100 % llama wool ponchos are cut generously.

  • Fringe included – adds about 2 – 3 in (5 – 7 cm) to both W and H.

  • Hand-made tolerance – allow ±¾ in (±2 cm).

  • Between sizes? Size up for warmth and that flowing silhouette.
