Cojitambo is soft in every sense: gentle pastel stripes of green, peach and beige on a baby alpaca-blend throw.

Named after the hill of Cojitambo in Cañar, home to pre-Inca ruins, this blanket is woven by hand in Otavalo, Ecuador — the textile capital of the Andes — from a baby alpaca wool blend — baby alpaca is finer and softer than regular alpaca and naturally lanolin-free and gentle on sensitive skin. It washes easily and dries fast, which is why customers who buy one usually come back for a second.

“Baby alpaca” is the name of the finest grade of alpaca fibre, not the age of the animal — alpacas are shorn once a year, like sheep. And it is not a blanket for babies: this is a full-size adult blanket.

Warmth & fit

Lightweight warmth: alpaca insulates far better than its weight suggests, so this blanket is warm on a winter night yet comfortable as a summer throw. Large enough to cover a queen bed as a top layer or two people on the sofa.
