Solid charcoal black, pure llama wool, a deep hood: Zumbahua is the poncho that goes with everything.

It takes its name from the high páramo parish of Zumbahua in Cotopaxi, where llama wool has kept people warm at 3,500 metres for centuries. Woven by hand using traditional Andean techniques, the fibre is brushed for softness so it feels cosy rather than rustic.

A poncho has no sleeves or seams to fit, so one size fits almost every adult; your size mainly changes how much of you it covers.

• If you're 6'2": hem at the knee, arms covered past the elbow.

• Hand wash cold with a mild detergent (or delicate cycle in a mesh bag)

• Lay flat or hang with support to dry, out of direct sun

Handmade, so no two are identical. Each piece is woven and dyed by hand in Otavalo, Ecuador. Colours can be a shade lighter or darker than on screen, and fringe and pattern placement vary slightly — that is the signature of a real artisan piece, not a flaw.
