Macas is the lightest poncho we make for children: baby alpaca in bright pink with a diamond pattern, soft enough for the most sensitive skin.
Named after Macas, a river town where the Ecuadorian Andes meet the Amazon, it is handwoven in Otavalo and weighs almost nothing — a warm layer a small child will actually keep on.

Material: 80% baby alpaca / 20% acrylic — the acrylic keeps the piece soft, washable and in shape for years
“Baby alpaca” is the name of the finest grade of alpaca fibre, not the age of the animal — alpacas are shorn once a year, like sheep.

Fit
Choose by height rather than age — the chart is measured on the garment. Kids grow into a poncho well: if between sizes, size up. The hood and open sides make it easy to pull on over a jumper, and there are no zips or sleeves to fight with.
Care
Hand wash cold with a mild detergent (or delicate cycle in a mesh bag)
Do not bleach or tumble dry
Lay flat or hang with support to dry, out of direct sun
Steam or low iron with a cloth if needed
Handmade, so no two are identical. Each piece is woven and dyed by hand in Otavalo, Ecuador. Colours can be a shade lighter or darker than on screen, and fringe and pattern placement vary slightly — that is the signature of a real artisan piece, not a flaw.
