Extra Large. Reversible. Cream & Black Aztec.

Tarpuna is the statement piece: an extra-large, fully reversible baby alpaca-blend blanket in a dramatic cream-and-black Aztec cross motif.

Named after the Kichwa word tarpuna — to sow — it is handwoven by Ecuadorian artisans using ancestral techniques. One side reads deep black, the other warm cream; flip it to change the room.

Why you’ll love it

  • Extra-large – covers a king bed or a big sofa
  • Reversible – two looks in one blanket
  • Baby alpaca – soft, warm and naturally lanolin-free
  • A statement pattern – bold geometry that anchors a room
  • Hand-woven in Otavalo – fair-trade artisan work from Ecuador

Details

  • Material: 80% baby alpaca / 20% acrylic — the acrylic keeps the blanket soft, washable and in shape for years
  • Size: Extra Large — 100" x 80" (254 x 203 cm)
  • Weight: approx. 1,580 g / 3.5 lb
  • Colours: Cream and black, reversible
  • Features: Reversible, Southwest Aztec cross pattern
  • Made in: Otavalo, Ecuador — fair trade, artisan woven

“Baby alpaca” is the name of the finest grade of alpaca fibre, not the age of the animal — alpacas are shorn once a year, like sheep. And it is not a blanket for babies: this is a full-size adult blanket.

Warmth & fit

Mid-weight and generously sized — covers a king bed as a top layer, or two adults on a large sofa with room to spare. Alpaca keeps you warm in winter without overheating, and the reversible weave gives you two looks in one.

Care

  • Hand wash cold with a mild detergent (or delicate cycle in a mesh bag)
  • Do not bleach or tumble dry
  • Lay flat or hang with support to dry, out of direct sun
  • Steam or low iron with a cloth if needed

Handmade, so no two are identical. Each piece is woven and dyed by hand in Otavalo, Ecuador. Colours can be a shade lighter or darker than on screen, and fringe and pattern placement vary slightly — that is the signature of a real artisan piece, not a flaw.
